David Nieper Casts off 100,000th Garment

The David Nieper fashion house in Derbyshire  has cast off its 100,000th garment, after establishing its  knitwear division in 2010.

The current knitwear collection features over 70 different styles in sizes 10-28, all crafted by a team of 12 specialists, with a combined 150 years’ experience in knitwear production.

Luxury Lambswool, Merino and Cashmere sourced from sustainable stocks are the staple yarns of the knitwear collection, which are skilfully spun into a range contemporary designs and classic styles.

Britain’s first Academy to be sponsored by a Private, Family, Fashion Business Opens in Derbyshire

Alfreton’s secondary school has started a new chapter in its long history with a new name, a new sponsor, a new Headteacher, a new uniform and a brand new school building under construction for 850 children.

The ‘David Nieper Educational Trust’ is one of Derbyshire’s most ambitious and innovative educational ventures and one of Britain’s few privately sponsored Academy Trusts.

David Nieper awards Derbyshire’s best young talent

Some of Derbyshire’s best young design talent was recognised, when over 80 children from 5 local Derbyshire Primary schools visited the David Nieper fashion house in Alfreton, for the final judging of the 2016 Fashion for Free!, school’s design competition.

The Fashion for Free competition has been established to help encourage children to use their imaginations and learn how to create and make things. The competition is open to 5-11 year olds, who were challenged to design and make a textiles creation.

David Nieper saddened by Courtaulds closure and urges staff to get in touch

Christopher Nieper says the company is deeply saddened by the closure of Courtaulds in Belper, who have been neighbours for many years and one of the few remaining textiles manufacturers in the UK.

Christopher urged staff to get in touch with the David Nieper HR team – a consequence of designers taking their manufacturing overseas for cheap labour has been the shortage of skilled machinists and seamstresses in the UK.
