Radio 4 Analysis interviews staff in the David Nieper sewing school and MD Christopher Nieper about what happens when institutions lose their memory, and the company’s policy of encouraging older workers to pass on valuable expertise through phased retirement and mentoring.

David Nieper launches hunt to find best, young British design talent

Derbyshire fashion house, David Nieper has launched a hunt to find the youngest British design talent with their annual primary school’s competition Fashion For Free!

The Fashion for Free! competition has been established to help encourage children to use their imaginations and learn how to create and make things.

The final judging will take place on 15th June, when participants are invited to attend an event at the fashion house, which includes an interactive factory tour where they will visit the sewing rooms, design studio and learn about how clothes are made from start to finish.

David Nieper Launches Primary School’s Competition

The hunt is on to find Britain’s best, young design talent. Derbyshire fashion house, David Nieper has launched a primary school’s competition for 5-11 year olds, to design and make a textiles creation, in a project created to recognise and reward some of our best and youngest designers.

The Fashion for Free! competition has been established to help encourage children to use their imaginations and learn how to create and make things.

L’Usine Nouvelle, leading French business publication visits fashion house

Managing Director, Christopher Nieper is interviewed by L’Usine Nouvelle one of France’s most highly respected business magazines, regarding the forthcoming EU Referendum and the potential knock-on effect for British businesses.

The magazine quotes Christopher commenting that the deal Cameron is negotiating doesn’t focus on the important, core issues that British business has concerning EU red tape and excessive bureaucracy.

Christopher Nieper comments on the UK textiles industry skills shortage

Christopher Nieper was featured in a BBC News item, speaking about the skills shortage in the UK textiles industry and what David Nieper is doing to address the issue, with the establishment of a sewing school, working closely with local universities, and encouraging more young people into careers in fashion manufacturing.

MP Alan Johnson visits David Nieper

David Nieper was in the news today in dialogue with Alan Johnson MP about the best deal for British business in, or out of the EU.

“David Nieper welcomed Alan Johnson’s visit today.  More MP’s should follow his example and get out to ask British businesses what they think. Airing opinions is what democracy is all about and the UK needs much more public dialogue about the forthcoming referendum on the EU to fully understand  the issues.”
