Alfreton-based fashion company David Nieper is celebrating 50 years in business – and 50 years of giving generously to deserving local charities.
Amber Valley Stroke Group based in Ripley and The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance are the most recent to benefit with both receiving a much-needed cheque for £600 each.
Staff at David Nieper held raffles and an auction to raise nearly £950, with David Nieper’s owners bringing the total to £1200. David Nieper is a close-knit family business with strong links in the local community. They employ over 200 people in Alfreton, Derbyshire, and almost all of them come from the local area. In fact, it was the staff who picked these two charities so that they could help local people.
These two donations are just the latest in a long line of gifts to charity going back over 50 years.
Amber Valley Stroke Club has a whole range of social activities for stroke survivors, their carers, friends and family. One of the team at David Nieper has been personally involved with the charity and received lots of support for a family member. The donation will go towards outings for members of the group.
Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance provides life-saving treatment and expert medical care at the scene of accidents and gets patients to hospital fast. They cover the 2,100 square miles of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, and serve almost 1.5 million people. Yet they receive no government funding, so any donations are always gratefully received.
As Managing Director, Christopher Nieper, points out, “We’re always keen to support local charities, so I’m particularly proud that we can help these two organisations. It goes without saying that our team did a tremendous job fundraising once again. But then, our staff have worked hard for charity for over 50 years now, and we thank them wholeheartedly.”
