David Nieper Prepares for a Royal Visit

The Princess Royal will visit the David Nieper fashion house next month as part of her tour of Derbyshire businesses.

It is a return to Alfreton for Princess Anne who was responsible for officially opening the factory in 1973.

She will be given a guided tour of the Nieper family business that is celebrating its 50th year of trading.

Managing director Christopher Nieper said: “We are excited and honoured to be hosting the Princess Royal during her visit to Derbyshire.

“It’s a fitting way to mark our golden jubilee year and will be an event our staff will remember for a very long time.

“As long-standing President of UK Fashion Exports, the Princess is known for her support of British fashion so I hope she will enjoy seeing our products and learning about our constant efforts to nurture fashion and manufacturing skills in the East Midlands.”

The Princess Royal will be meeting some of the county’s most dedicated employees.

Even when much of Derbyshire was buried in snow, more than 50 David Nieper staff spent over an hour walking to work.

And those same staff are also well known to their customers as every garment leaves the factory with a card signed by the seamstress who put it together.
