After pressing a staggering 1.5 million garments during more than half a century in the textile industry, Derbyshire’s own “iron” lady has retired.

At the age of 70, Joy Slater is leaving the comfortable fold of luxury clothing firm David Nieper – having spent more than 30 years there.
