Staff at David Nieper raise £4,550 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Staff at David Nieper showed-off their hand-made talents to raise £4,550 for Macmillan Cancer Support during a crafty Big Coffee Morning held at the Alfreton design house.

Items on sale during the Coffee Morning included handbags, bean bags, quilt covers, cakes, knitted dolls, scarves, jewellery and even toy chickens – all made by hand.

Visiting members of the public helped boost the money raised to £2,800 with David Nieper donating a further £1,750 to bring the grand total to £4,550.

Tracy Townend, Macmillan fundraising manager for Derbyshire, said: “The amount raised by David Nieper for Macmillan’s World Biggest Coffee Morning is not only a wonderful achievement but will help us to achieve our aim of making this event the biggest ever!”

“Without this kind of support and commitment we simply can’t provide our wide range of services to help the growing number of people affected by cancer.”

Many of the staff have over ten years’ experience and the showcase of hand-made craft items was a celebration of their skills.

The skilful workers at David Nieper, who designs and manufacturers all its clothing in the UK in its Derbyshire design studies and factory, are long-term supporters of Macmillan. Last year staff raised £1,658.62 and chose to support Macmillan again because of the fantastic work the charity does helping local people living with cancer. Figures show that every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with the disease.
